Personalize Voicy

Move your saved words and modes to another computer

Export Dictionary, Custom Modes, Saved commands, and Voice shortcuts, then import them.

On this page

Export / Import moves your saved vocabulary and instructions between desktop computers. It adds items to the other computer rather than replacing everything there.

Save an export file

  1. On the first computer, open Voicy → Settings → Advanced settings → Open.
  2. Find Export / Import.
  3. Click Export.
  4. Choose a folder you can find again and save the file.
  5. Move that file to your other computer using your usual method, such as a USB drive.

The export contains your Dictionary, Custom Modes, Saved rewrite commands, and Voice shortcuts. Keep it private if those items contain personal information, such as an address.

Import on the other computer

  1. Open Voicy → Settings → Advanced settings → Open on the other computer.
  2. Under Export / Import, click Import.
  3. Choose the Voicy export file you saved.
  4. Read the result message, which tells you how many items were added or skipped.

Existing items stay in place. Duplicates and items over a limit may be skipped. Saved rewrite commands have a limit of nine, and Dictionary has a size limit.

What is not copied?

Export does not copy dictation History, file transcripts, your subscription sign-in, the offline model, or all app settings. Sign in separately on the new computer and choose its recording shortcut there.
