Custom Modes apply saved instructions to a new dictation. For example, you can turn your spoken words into an email or organised notes. An internet connection is needed to apply the AI instructions.

Create a mode

  1. Open Voicy → Custom Modes.
  2. Click Create mode.
  3. Under What should AI do with your transcript?, type your instructions. For example: “Turn my words into a friendly email. Keep the meaning.”
  4. Or click an example: Email, Notes, Message, or Prompt.
  5. Click Save and wait for the saved mode to appear.

Voicy gives the mode a name. To change the name later, click Edit, change Title, then click Save.

Use your mode

  1. Click in the app where you want to write.
  2. Start a normal Voicy recording.
  3. Click your mode's button above the recording box. You can also press the number shown beside it.
  4. Speak your message.
  5. Tap your recording shortcut again to stop.

Voicy applies the mode before giving you the text. Check the finished text before using it. Use the number currently shown on the button; it can change when you add another mode.

Use a mode automatically

On the Custom Modes page, turn on Enable by default for the mode you want. It will be selected for new recordings. Turn the switch off when you want normal dictation again.

Change or remove a mode

Click Edit beside a saved mode, change its instructions, then click Save. Click Delete to remove a mode you no longer need.

To change text already on the page, use Rewrite Mode. To move your modes to another computer, use Export / Import.
