Allow Voicy to use your microphone
Restore microphone access if recording cannot start.

Mac
macOS controls which apps may use your microphone.
Allow access on Mac
- Open System Settings from the Apple menu.
- Click Privacy & Security.
- Click Microphone.
- Turn Voicy on. Confirm the change if macOS asks.
If Voicy is not listed, open Voicy and try a recording so macOS can ask for access.
Windows
Windows controls microphone access for desktop apps.
Allow access on Windows
- If Voicy shows Open microphone privacy settings, click that button.
- Or open Windows Settings and search for Microphone privacy settings.
- Turn Microphone access on.
- Turn on the option allowing desktop apps to access the microphone. Windows may also show a general app-access switch; leave that on too.
Voicy is a desktop app, so it may not have its own switch in Windows' individual app list.
Linux
Microphone controls depend on your Linux desktop and audio setup.
Check access on Linux
- Open your system's Sound or Audio settings.
- Choose your microphone under Input and make sure it is enabled and not muted.
- If your system shows microphone privacy or application-access controls, allow Voicy.
- Close any app that may be holding the microphone, then try Voicy again.
If no access control is shown, continue with the input and volume checks rather than looking for a Mac or Windows permission screen.
Next steps
If the message says Microphone access required, check permission using the instructions for your computer above.
Try recording again
- Quit Voicy completely.
- Reopen it.
- Start a short recording and check that the blue wave moves as you speak.
If the message is different
No microphone found means you should connect or enable a microphone. Microphone is in use means another app may be holding it; close that app and try again. No sound detected means you should check mute, the selected input, and input volume.
These problems are different from a permission refusal. Follow Choose and check your microphone for the sound checks.
