Fix a recording problem or improve accuracy

Start with these simple checks if Voicy cannot hear you or gets words wrong.

Try the checks below in order. After each check, record one short sentence to see whether the problem is fixed.

1. Quit and reopen Voicy

  1. Find Voicy's small icon near your computer's clock. On Windows, you may need to click the small arrow to show hidden icons.
  2. Open its menu and choose Quit. On Mac you can also use Command + Q while Voicy is active.
  3. Open Voicy again and try a recording.

Closing the main window may leave Voicy running. Choose Quit for a full restart.

2. Check the blue wave

  1. Start a recording and speak normally.
  2. Look at the blue wave in the recording box.
  3. If it does not move, check that your microphone is connected and not muted.
  4. Open Voicy → Settings. Find Increase Microphone input volume and click Adjust volume. Choose the correct input microphone and raise its input volume. The tutorial recommends 100%.

If the microphone cannot start, follow Microphone access. If the sound is distorted, try a lower input volume or move farther from the microphone.

3. Check language and spelling

In Voicy → Settings → Recording language, choose the language you are speaking. Add names and unusual words to Dictionary. Speak in complete sentences and reduce nearby background noise.

4. Check formatting settings

If your words are being changed unexpectedly, turn off Punctuation commands in Settings and try again. Also check whether a Custom Mode is enabled by default.

5. Ask for help

If it still fails, use the recording's Report button in Home → History, or email [email protected]. Tell us your computer type and what happens. See Send a problem report to understand what a report shares.
