Using Voicy

Choose and switch your recording language

Tell Voicy which language you speak, or switch languages during a recording.

On this page

Recording language means the language you speak. It is separate from the language used for Voicy's menus and buttons.

Choose your usual language

  1. Open Voicy → Settings.
  2. Find Recording language.
  3. Open the list and choose your language.

Choose Auto-Detection if you want Voicy to identify the language. Choosing a specific language can help when automatic detection gets it wrong.

Set up languages you switch between

  1. Open Voicy → Settings → Advanced settings → Open.
  2. Find Set recording languages and click Edit.
  3. Select up to three languages. Use Search languages to find one.
  4. Click Set default beside the language you want selected at the start.
  5. Click Done.

Switch while recording

  1. Start a recording as usual.
  2. Look at the language buttons in the recording window.
  3. Click the language you want, or press its displayed A, S, or D key.
  4. Finish your recording with your normal shortcut.

Changing recording language does not translate your words into a different language. For translation, use Custom Modes or Rewrite Mode.

Languages in Offline mode

The downloaded model supports its own set of languages and detects them automatically. Open Offline mode and click the model's languages button to see the list. If your language is not supported, turn Offline mode off for that recording. The app warns you when a selected language is outside the model's list.
