Use Voicy without an internet connection
Download a model and transcribe your voice on your own computer.

In Offline mode, the speech model runs on your computer and records your voice on your device. Normal dictation audio stays on your computer. Download the model while you have internet, then use it to turn speech into text without a connection.
Download the model first
- Connect your computer to the internet.
- Open Voicy → Offline mode.
- Find the model card and check the download size shown there.
- Click Download.
- Wait for downloading and verifying to finish. The model will appear as Active, or offer a Use button.
Click Use if it is shown. On Mac, Offline mode requires macOS 15 or later. If the app says your system is too old, you can continue with normal online dictation.
Turn Offline mode on
- Turn on Transcribe on this computer.
- Wait for Model loaded and ready.
- Click in a note and record a sentence with your usual Voicy shortcut.
- Stop the recording and check the text.
The model detects the spoken language automatically. Click its languages button to check which languages it supports. Saved Voice shortcuts work with Offline mode too.
If an AI feature needs internet
Basic speech-to-text works without internet. AI tools such as Rewrite Mode and Custom Modes need a connection. If you are disconnected, use a normal dictation and apply those changes later.
File transcription and retrying an old recording are separate online actions. Voicy asks for confirmation before sending their audio when Offline mode is on. Choose No to keep it on your device.
Pause, retry, or remove a download
Click Pause to stop a download temporarily and Resume to continue it. If a download fails, read the message and click Retry after checking your connection or freeing space.
To remove the installed model and free space, turn Transcribe on this computer off first, then click Delete on its model card. With Offline mode off, new recordings use normal online dictation.
