Understand privacy and your recordings
Learn what stays on your computer, how processing works, and what a support report shares.
On this page
Voicy does not retain your normal recordings or transcripts on its servers, read or listen to them, or use them to train AI. These promises also apply to file transcription, Rewrite Mode, Custom Modes, and context-aware formatting. Voluntary problem reports are a separate exception, explained below.
Online processing
Normal online dictation sends your audio for transcription. AI features process the text or instructions needed to do the task, such as selected text in Rewrite Mode or your Custom Mode instructions. File transcription sends the file's audio for transcription.
Voicy's processing uses the same no-retention promises for these features. The privacy policy explains the service's data handling and the provider's zero data retention setting.
Account and usage information
Voicy keeps the information needed for your account and subscription. It also uses anonymised usage information, such as button clicks and error events, to improve the app. This usage information does not contain your recordings or transcript words. A problem report you choose to send is different and is explained below.
History on your computer
History is saved locally on your computer. Voicy clears entries more than three days old when it starts. Up to the ten newest entries with audio keep a recording attached; older entries may keep text without audio.
File-transcription results also stay in the local file list until you remove them or the app clears old entries. Download transcripts you want to keep.
Offline mode
In Offline mode, the speech model runs on your computer and normal dictation audio stays on your device. Download its model first to transcribe without internet.
When you choose to send a problem report
A report sends your description, diagnostic information, and the selected transcript to the Voicy team. If you leave Attach the recording of this transcript checked, it also sends that entry's available audio.
The team can review the material you choose to submit to help solve the problem. Voluntarily submitted reports and their attachments are retained for 30 days. Untick the recording option if you do not want to share audio. See Send a problem report.
Your controls
- To stop saving new local dictations, turn off History on Voicy's Home page.
- To remove a saved entry, click Delete beside it in History.
- To remove a file-transcription entry, click Remove on the Transcribe File page.
- To request deletion of your account data, email [email protected].
Turning History off does not delete entries already saved. Deleting a local entry is different from deleting your account or cancelling billing.
