Using Voicy

Find, copy, or delete your recent recordings

Use History to recover text, retry a failed recording, or save its audio.

On this page

History is on Voicy's Home page. It saves recent dictations on this computer so you can find them again.

Find and copy your text

  1. Open Voicy → Home.
  2. Scroll down to History.
  3. Find your recording by its time and text. The newest entries are first.
  4. Click Copy.
  5. Return to your document, click where you want the text, and paste with Command + V on Mac or Ctrl + V on Windows and Linux.

Retry a failed recording

Find the failed entry and click Retry. You need an internet connection, and the entry must still have its saved audio. If Offline mode is on, Voicy asks before sending the recording for online transcription. Choose No if you do not want to send it.

Save a recording's audio

Click Download beside an entry that has saved audio, choose a folder, and save the recording. Download is offered only while that entry's audio is still available. On this page, Download saves audio; Copy copies the written text.

How long History lasts

Voicy clears entries more than three days old when it starts. Audio is kept for up to the ten newest entries that have a recording, so older text may remain even after its audio is gone. Save anything you want to keep elsewhere.

Delete an entry or stop saving new ones

Click Delete beside an entry to remove it from this computer's History. You cannot undo this in Voicy.

Turn off the switch beside History to stop saving new dictations. Switching it off hides History; it does not delete entries already saved. History is local and does not automatically appear on another device.
