Personalize Voicy

Change recording sounds, pauses, and startup

Adjust when recording stops, how Voicy starts, and other everyday preferences.

On this page

Most everyday recording preferences are under Voicy → Settings. Your changes are saved as you make them.

Choose when silence stops recording

  1. Open Voicy → Settings.
  2. Find Auto-stop on silence.
  3. Choose 2 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 30 seconds, or Never stop.

If Voicy stops while you are thinking, choose a longer pause or Never stop. You can still tap your recording shortcut to finish. “Never stop” disables this silence setting; it does not remove account recording limits.

Change recording sounds

Turn Play sound while recording on or off. When it is on, the Start sound and Stop sound controls let you click Browse and choose your own short sound file. Choose a clip under five seconds. Use the reset button beside a custom sound to restore the default.

Open Voicy when your computer starts

Turn on Start with Windows on Windows, or Start at login on Mac and Linux. On Windows, Advanced settings → Start hidden on Windows login keeps its windows out of the way at startup.

More options in Advanced settings

Open Settings → Advanced settings → Open:

  • Pause media while recording pauses playing music or video and resumes it after the recording.
  • Disable microphone volume changes stops Voicy from requesting automatic microphone-volume adjustments. Use this if the input volume keeps changing unexpectedly.
  • Smart result delivery checks the text field for Rewrite Mode and can show a copyable popup instead of pasting where it does not belong.

In normal Settings, Preserve clipboard contents restores the text or other item you had copied before Voicy pasted its transcript. If manual recovery is needed, use History's Copy button.
