Write your first text with Voicy
Click where you want to write, tap your shortcut, and speak.
On this page
Voicy turns your voice into written text. Start with a short note so you can get comfortable with it.
Find your recording shortcut
- Open Voicy.
- Click Home in the menu on the left.
- Find Change keyboard shortcut near the top. The keys shown in the box are your recording shortcut.
A shortcut is a key, or a few keys pressed together. If yours says Ctrl + Space, hold Ctrl, tap the space bar, then release both keys.
Write a short note
- Open the app where you want to write, such as Notes or Word.
- Click inside the writing area. Look for the small blinking line that shows where your text will appear.
- Tap your recording shortcut once, then let go.
- Say: “Today I am trying Voicy for the first time.” The blue wave in Voicy's recording box should move as you speak.
- Tap the same shortcut again to stop.
- Wait for your words to appear, then read them over.
You do not need to hold the keys while talking. Voicy adds punctuation for you.
Cancel a recording
Press Esc while recording, or while Voicy is processing the recording, to cancel it. The cancelled recording will not be pasted.
If your words do not appear
Open Voicy → Home and scroll to History. If your text is there, click Copy, return to your document, and paste it. History must be switched on for new recordings to be saved there.
Follow Text is not appearing if you need more help.
