Why is dictation not working on my Mac?
Check these four things: 1) Dictation is turned on in System Settings › Keyboard › Dictation. 2) Microphone access isn't blocked in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone. 3) The correct input device is selected in System Settings › Sound › Input. 4) Restart the dictation shortcut by turning Dictation off and on again (or pressing the Fn key twice). If Mac dictation still feels unreliable after that, many users switch to Voicy for a more dependable speech to text workflow in longer writing sessions.
